Name: Anna
City: Pittsburgh, PA
Art: tattoos, digital drawing, textiles, photography
Favourite medium: ink
Background:
I’ve been drawing and participating in art classes since I was young. During that time, I’ve pursued learning many different forms of art for fun, such as painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, guache), photography, ceramics, textiles arts (knit, crochet, weave, intarsia), metalsmithing, woodworking, jewelry-making, stone carving, and masonry.
When I left high school, I began tattooing part-time while attending university. First working with fake skin and fruit, and transitioning to machine tattooing. Now, I am most interested in tattooing by hand using traditional methods and primarily work in this manner, using the hand-poked technique. I really like the idea that even modern tattoo designs can be accomplished using hand tools, the same way that they were most likely done in early 3000 B.C., but with sterile practices.
Curation Eye:
Curation Eye is a concept that I’ve had floating around in my mind for many years. I mainly use it as a sort of pseudo artist name and “brand image” when creating collections of my work. I’ve always. been drawn to eye imagery, and you may notice this by how often eye motifs appear in my work. This is where the concept of the logo design, and artist’s signature, originated.
